Whether you're sketching your very first OC or you're a seasoned artist looking for fresh ways to break out of a creative rut, this is your guided path from a tiny spark of an idea to a character that's truly your own.

Crafted by Soso and David, this Digital Guidebook is the result of years of Soso's sketching, experimenting, and character designing, packed into five hands-on sections. We've taken the methods Soso actually uses to invent characters and turned them into practical, draw-right-on-top-of-it exercises.

This isn't just a book of tips. It's a 25 page Character Creation toolkit built around five creative realms:

• Humans: Explore body types through proportion, mass, scale, and shape language. Give your character a signature posture, then zoom in to sculpt head shapes, facial features, hairstyles, scars, and accessories. Includes a full height-scaling diagram and dozens of pre-drawn head and body blueprints.
  
  
• Animals: Learn how to go from real reference to your own creation. Practice anthropomorphizing, simplifying, and stylizing animals, dress human mannequins in animal "suits," and use shape language to bring out a character's personality.
  
  
• Objects: Bring the inanimate to life! Turn teapots, TVs, cars, and lamps into living characters, experiment with where the face goes, and combine multiple objects into one-of-a-kind assemblage creatures. Perspective and fisheye grids help you place your designs in 3D space.
  
  
• Mixing: Fuse human, animal, and mechanical parts into brand-new species, cyborgs, and aliens. Pre-drawn heads and mannequins give you the structure, and you bring the horns, wings, wheels, and antennae.
  
  
• Abstract: Welcome to the absurd! Transform cubes, spheres, and blobs into characters through step-by-step "complexification," evolve simple creatures into intricate ones, and get lost in our scribble field, a page of faint lines waiting for you to find the characters hidden inside.

Every character you design will be different, and so will every attempt. Because this is a digital guidebook, you can practice as many times as you like:

• Digital Artists: Import the PDF into Procreate, Photoshop, or Clip Studio Paint. Create a new layer over our blueprints and design as many variations as you want.
